Galatasaray and Fenerbahce Enter the Race for Bernardo Silva

The Turkish Süper Lig is bracing for one of the most sensational transfer battles in its history. Manchester City’s Portuguese maestro, Bernardo Silva, has become the primary target for both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, sparking a “transfer derby” off the pitch.

Recent reports suggest that the 31-year-old playmaker has officially informed Manchester City management of his intention to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2025-26 season. With his contract set to expire in June 2026, the race to secure his signature for the next chapter of his career has reached a fever pitch.

The “Lions” are utilizing a strategic advantage: İlkay Gündoğan. The former Manchester City captain, now a key figure at Galatasaray, is reportedly acting as an intermediary, sharing glowing reviews of the club’s atmosphere and professional environment with his former teammate. Galatasaray aims to offer Silva the iconic Number 10 jersey and a lead role in their ambitious Champions League project.

Not to be outdone, Fenerbahce has officially entered the race. Sources indicate that the Yellow Canaries have reached out to Silva’s world-renowned agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss the financial parameters of a potential move.

Fenerbahce views Silva as the ultimate “centerpiece” to rebuild their attacking line. With the club looking to make a global statement, they are prepared to mobilize significant resources to compete with any offer on the table.

While the Istanbul giants are leading the charge in Türkiye, they face stiff competition from Europe and beyond. Barcelona remains a long-term admirer of the player, while Juventus and clubs from the Saudi Pro League and MLS are also monitoring the situation closely.

Despite the transfer noise, Silva remains a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s squad this season:

Silva is expected to begin formal negotiations with interested parties in April 2026, with a final decision likely to be announced during the summer window.
